The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F-15E Strike Eagle is a dual-role fighter derived from the F-15 air-superiority family, which at first supplemented and then replaced the General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark in nthe long range strike role. . It features a two-seat cockpit (pilot in front, Weapons Systems Officer/WSO in rear), conformal fuel tanks (CFTs) for extended range and additional weapons carriage, strengthened structure and landing gear for higher gross weights (up to about 81,000 lb / 36,700 kg), and multi-mode radar plus targeting systems optimized for both air-to-air and precision air-to-ground missions. Key visual identifiers include the CFTs along the fuselage sides, multiple under-fuselage and under-wing hardpoints, and (on many examples) LANTIRN or successor navigation/targeting pods.

Engines and Inlets: Twin afterburning turbofan engines (Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 or -229 series on most aircraft) sit side-by-side in the rear fuselage. Variable-geometry inlets manage airflow across the flight envelope.
